Options for Accountability and Classroom Applications of Content Presented in the Fairfield/Northwest TAH Program, Year 1
Each TAH participant should prepare ONE of the following products.
- Research paper, 6 to 7 pages, on a topic of the participant’s choice.
- Teaching unit targeting both history and reading skills, using paired fiction and nonfiction non-textbook readings.
- Teaching unit illustrating how differentiated instruction can be used in the teaching of a history unit.
- Teaching unit illustrating how non-literary elements, such as music, dance, theatrical techniques, and simulations can be used to teach history.
- Teaching unit illustrating how multiple gateways to learning (multiple intelligences) and learning modalities can be incorporated in the teaching of history.
- An original script for a play, an original simulation, or other original work that could be used to teach a significant concept, issue, or event from history.
All projects, except for the research paper, would include the following:
- Specific student learning outcomes keyed to Ohio standards, benchmarks, and indicators
- Student assessment materials with rubrics and keys
- Lesson plans or detailed descriptions of how a teacher should use the materials
- An historical narrative that recounts the history to be covered in the unit
It is the intent that lesson plan projects be the original work of the TAH participant. If ideas or content from published materials are incorporated, these should be clearly documented and explained.
