Miami Hamilton: Upcoming Events of Interest to Teachers of History
Miami Hamilton is bringing a number of interesting and talented historians and history makers to the campus in fall, 2008.
The Colligan series kicks off on Thursday, September 4 with historian, Jeremy Suri, author of Henry Kissinger and the American Century. Tuesday, September 16 sees the return of two Colligan History Project favorites: Allan Winker & Dennis Sullivan singing Folk Songs of the '60s. Both events take place at the Harry T. Wilks Conference Center.
Meanwhile, in September and October 2008, two significant history makers from 1968 join the Miami Hamilton community to celebrate the campus's 40th anniversary. On Tuesday, September 23, we welcome Olympic athelete, educator and activist Tommie Smith; while on October 21, Seymour Hersh, the Pulitzer-prizewinning journalist who broke the story of the My Lai Massacre, will be our final 40th anniversary speaker of an action-packed year. Both events will take place in Parrish Auditorium.
The final Michael J. Colligan event of the year takes place on Thursday, November 6 when local historian Jim Blount chairs a panel of World War II veterans.
