Interested in studying in China? A message from the Director of International Initiatives
March 31, 2009
Did you know the tropical island of Hainan, off the south coast of China, is very similar to Hawaii? Now that I have your attention, here’s what you need to know:
MUH is partnering with several Chinese universities on a student exchange program in which— beginning in 2010—you can pay regular Miami Hamilton tuition and earn MU course credit for studying in China for a semester or summer.
Familiarity with Chinese language is NOT required to take advantage of this amazing opprtunity to study abroad.
If history is your cup of tea, you can study in Xi’an, the capital of 10 Chinese dynasties.
If you’re intrigued by Chinese architecture, you can study in Suzhou or Nanjing, where traditional
Chinese architecture has been standing for more than a thousand years.
And if you’d like to experience global diversity, you can study in Guangzhou or Hong Kong, where our partner universities host international students from more than 50 countries.
You can study in a bustling metropolitan area where English speakers are common and American cuisine easy to find, or totally immerse yourself in Chinese culture at a remote campus in the countryside where you’ll find no American food and little spoken English (but plenty of translators, of course!). Then again, you might prefer someplace in between—the choice is yours.
Indeed, as the world becomes increasingly global, international education is less of a luxury and more of an imperative in higher education. The positive impact it will have on you will be profound.
That’s all I have to say for now. Want to learn more? Feel free to contact me any time!
