Sobecki passionate about food drive, grateful for campus support

Miami Hamilton recently donated a new campus record of 3,211 pounds of food and $429.30 to Shared Harvest Food Bank.
“Our previous high was 2,400 pounds. As always, there are far too many people who contributed far too much for me to risk leaving out someone deserving of credit, but please accept my heartfelt thanks—especially in this time of great need,” said Dave Sobecki, Associate Professor of Math who spearheads a campus food drive toward the end of each semester.

Dr. Sobecki packs non-perishable foodstuffs into boxes for transport to Shared Harvest.
“But don’t get too comfortable with the accolades. In less than three months, we’ll be doing it all again!”
Sobecki said he was overwhelmed by the response from students, faculty, and staff. “Not quite physically, although it was close, but certainly emotionally,” Sobecki said.
Sobecki was elected to the Shared Harvest Board of Directors in 2008.
