Multicultural Center Launches 4th Diversity Film Series: Globalization and Diversity
September 11, 2009
Submitted by Dr. Shelly Jarrett Bromberg
Please join us this semester in the Multicultural Center on select Wednesdays from 12:00 - 2:00 PM for a series of films on how globalization has impacted our world for better or worse.
For some, like the dancers in "Planet B-Boy," globalization has meant that the once exclusively inner city break dancing contests have gone worldwide with competitors from every country imaginable. For others, like the thousands of factory workers laid off because their jobs are being shipped overseas, globalization has had devastating consequences.
Each of these films explores the complexities of our increasingly interconnected world and asks us to think carefully about how and why globalization can contribute to a more dynamic and diverse world while, likewise, being a source of conflict and disempowerment.
