Blue-ribbon panel reviewing applications for Jim Blount History Educator Award
May 5, 2009
Applications for the 2009 Jim Blount History Educator Award are now being reviewed by a blue-ribbon panel. The winners -- to be named next week -- will receive a recognition dinner hosted in their honor at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, in the Wilks Conference Center.
Two awards will be given in 2009: one to a history teacher in grades K-6 and one to a history teacher in grades 7-12. The Blount award is sponsored by the Michael J. Colligan History Project at Miami Hamilton in concert with the Hamilton Community Foundation.
The annual award is named for local historian and educator Jim Blount and honors those who exemplify the commitment to history and the achievements in history education epitomized in Mr. Blount’s life and career.
“We hope you will join us as we recognize and salute both Mr. Blount and the talented and dedicated history teachers he represents,” said Dr. Michael Carrafiello, MUH Associate Dean and Director of the Colligan project.
The recognition dinner/awards ceremony is open to the campus community and general public. Tickets are $25 each; $40 a pair. To reserve tickets for the dinner, contact LaDonna Hoskins, 785-3277, hoskinls@muohio.edu.
