from Hamilton Mayor, Don Ryan.
Hall was nominated by several community leaders including Hamilton Mayor Don Ryan for making contributions in keeping with the City of Hamilton’s Vision 2020 Plan.
In his nomination letter, Ryan said, “Dr. Hall is a visionary not only in academic terms but in economic terms as well. He sees the future of educational involvement in our community and acts upon it. He is continually expanding the role of higher education for the betterment of the community.”
Nancy Wiley, chair of Hamilton 2020 Vision Commission and one of the luncheon emcees, credited Hall with spearheading the formal partnership agreement between Miami Hamilton and the Hamilton City School District, and overseeing the recent opening of Miami Hamilton Downtown.
Ryan said Miami University’s official presence at a high-profile location in the historic Robinson-Schwenn building on High Street is a “tremendous boon” to the downtown business district.
“Since his arrival in Hamilton in 2003, Dr. Hall has worked and continues to work tirelessly to enhance educational opportunities and community relations. He works closely with business, government, social service, and arts leaders to partner in economic, intellectual and cultural initiatives,” Ryan said.
Hall said it’s his faculty and staff members working hard behind the scenes who are making things happen.
“It’s not me. I couldn’t be luckier. I’m just opening doors,” Hall said.
“The faculty, staff, and students at Miami Hamilton are top-notch. I mean they are excellent. Having such a high-quality faculty and staff makes my job a lot easier,” he said. “The community is fully invested in the campus, and the campus is fully invested in the community. That's what it's all about.”
