Miller, Settle promoted to new staff posts
July 21, 2008
A couple of familiar faces on campus will start the 2008-09 academic year with new jobs.
Annie Miller becomes the first Director of Civic Engagement at Miami Hamilton, and Chris Settle has been named Director of Athletics & Recreational Sports.
Miller, former interim director of student activities, is quite familiar with the literature of engagement and service learning. She will coordinate all civic engagement efforts for the campus, and work with faculty and academic leaders on all of Miami’s campuses to facilitate the implementation of a new service elaboration for tenure and promotion.
Miller also will lead MUH partnership efforts with local governments, school districts, and not-for-profit organizations. A native of Durango, Colorado, Miller received a master’s in higher education from Miami University.
Settle replaces Vince Richardson who retired last spring. Settle had been serving as program associate in the department since December 2007, and has been a part-time instructor for Miami University’s Department of Kinesiology & Health for several years. He previously coached women’s basketball, men’s tennis, and women’s tennis at Miami Hamilton.
Among Settle’s early priorities will be finalizing schedules for the fall sports teams. Miami Hamilton participates in the Ohio Regional Campus Conference in men’s baseball, basketball, tennis, and golf; and women’s fast-pitch softball, basketball, tennis, golf, volleyball, and cheerleading.
Settle received a master’s in Physical Education, Health & Sport Studies from Miami University. He is a certified strength-and-conditioning coach and a lifelong Hamilton resident.
