The Miami Hamilton Community pays tribute to Hamilton Joe
November 21, 2007
Many Miami Hamilton faculty, staff, and even students who were already celebrating their Thanksgiving Break patiently waited on Neilan Boulevard to pay their last respects to Joe Nuxhall, the Hamilton native who had a six-decade history as a pitcher and broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds.
Members of Miami Hamilton's Student Government Association made posters and staff from Physical Facilities created large banners (see image below) to celebrate the life of "Hamilton Joe" and to mark the campus's appreciation of a man whose lack of ego and dedication to community service were legendary.

Banners reading "Rounding Third...Heading Home...Into the Hearts of Everyone!" and "Miami Joe #39" were displayed on the Hamilton Campus to honor Joe Nuxhall as his cortège passed along Neilan Boulevard to a private funeral ceremony.
