Miami Hamilton Theatre presents Kindertransport
April 10, 2007
Miami Hamilton Theatre will present Diane Samuels’ Kindertransport at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 19-21, in Parrish Auditorium on the Hamilton campus of Miami University.
The play is based on a real-life rescue mission that took place during the weeks leading up to the outbreak of World War II. Kindertransport describes Allied efforts to safely move children out of Germany and other Nazi-occupied territories before the war. Children were transported by train and relocated to foster homes, hostels and farms in Great Britain.
“This play is most likely rated PG due to intense subject matter. Scripts of the play are available for public perusal at Miami Hamilton’s Rentschler Library for parents to read and decide if it is age-appropriate for their children,” said Bekka Eaton, Miami Hamilton Assistant Professor of Theatre and Kindertransport director. “It’s an exciting production chock full of adventure and suspense.”
General admission tickets are $8 and $5 for senior citizens, students with ID and children under 12. Advance tickets are available at www.tickets.muohio.edu, by phone or in person at the Miami University Box Office located in the Shriver Center (Maple Street entrance) in Oxford, 529-3200.
