Celebrate Women's History Month

In honor of March as Women's History Month, Miami
Hamilton's English faculty members are hosting several
events, beginning with a Feminist Film Series, which
kicks off Thursday, March 9.
Films will be screened in the Harry
T. Wilks Conference Center, Room 200, beginning at
4pm. Snacks will be provided. The films to be viewed
include the following:

March 9 - "North Country" (introduced
by Whitney Womack Smith)
Thursday, March 23 - "Bend It Like Beckham"
(introduced by Sherrie Inness)
Thursday, March 30 - "Sylvia" (introduced
by Kelli Lyon Johnson)
In addition a Women's History Lecture features Associate
Professor of History Mary Frederickson of Miami University
in Oxford. Frederickson will give a talk tentatively
titled "A Mother's Arithmetic: Elizabeth Clark
Gaines' Journey from Slavery to Freedom" on Wednesday,
March 29 at 4pm in Room 206 of the Harry T. Wilks
Conference Center. A reception will follow.
Also look for women's history facts posted around
campus on International Women's Day (Wednesday, March
8). Students who are in "Introduction to Women's
Studies," a course taught by Associated Professor
of English Whitney Womack Smith, initiated the project.
