Miami Hamilton, Director of Business & Industry Center Honored

Miami Hamilton and Kathy Weber, Director of the Hamilton campus's Continuing Education and Business & Industry Center (B&I), were recently honored and presented with the Supplier of the Year Award by Ferguson Metals owner, Wayne Ferguson. Also honored was John Veatch of Lean Concepts, Inc., a training consultant who works with Kathy to deliver Lean training and consulting services to client companies of Miami Hamilton's B&I Center.

Long-term quality training relationship forged with Ferguson Metals

Miami Hamilton's B&I Center has been delivering quality training programs to employees of Ferguson Metals for over six years. Kathy has been their main contact and training resource while the B&I Center delivered training to all employees of the company, on-site at their location and in the Harry T. Wilks Conference Center.

Wide variety of training programs offered

In addition  to Lean Manufacturing training, the B&I Center has developed and delivered a Supervisor Training program, Customer Service Training, Computer Training (Basics, Internet, Keyboarding, Word and Excel), Team Training, Performance  Management Training, 360 Training, and Diversity Training.

Scholarship program initiated

Two years ago, Kathy was asked to develop a scholarship program for  children, grandchildren and spouses of Ferguson Metals employees and to  chair the scholarship committee. She worked with company representatives to determine the qualifications and application process for this merit-based scholarship, developed all the forms and recruited a scholarship committee of five members from Miami Hamilton, Xavier University and a Community member.

This is the second year a $2500 scholarship has been awarded to two of Ferguson Metals' employees' family members to attend the accredited college of their choice.
