October 2, 2006
Miami Hamilton has two teams registered for the upcoming 3K walk sponsored by the Butler County chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). The “Walk for the Mind of America” begins at 10 a.m. Sat., Oct. 7, at Vora Technology Park on Knightsbridge Drive in Hamilton. Check-in starts at 9 a.m.
Paula Harrison, Assistant Professor of Nursing, is coordinating the Miami Hamilton effort.
“We have two teams. One is sponsored by the Student Nurse Association captained by Pam Camilliere. That team has 34 registered walkers. The other is the Department of Nursing team led by Joan Fopma-Loy, and we have 10 faculty members signed up,” Harrison said. “We’re all looking forward to it.”
The Butler County Chapter of NAMI is a volunteer agency that provides support for people with mental illness and their families, including educating family members on available mental health services in the county.
