African American student leadership

Hamilton hosts the sixth African American Student
Leadership Summit, Leadership by Example: Service
through Sacrifice, which will assess the current
state of social and cultural activism and student
leadership in the African American campus community.
The summit will be held Feb. 23-25 in The Harry T.
Wilks Conference Center. Political Commentator Donna
Brazile will kick off the summit as the featured speaker
during Racial Legacies and Learning: How to Talk
About Race town meeting, Feb. 23, beginning at
7pm in Parrish Auditorium.
Other presenters during the weekend
event include Molefi K. Asante Jr., film maker, author
and poet; Valorie Burton, life coach; Dr. D. Akil
Houston, professor at Ohio University; Dr. Reiland
Rabaka, professor at the University of Colorado-Boulder;
and inspirational speaker, Kemba Smith.
More than
150 students from area universities, colleges and
high schools will participate in the summit. Schools
represented include Baldwin-Wallace College, Cleveland
State University, Hamilton High School, Manchester
College, Miami University, Miami Hamilton, Miami Middletown,
Ohio State University, Ohio University, Terra Community
College, and W.E. Dubois Academy.
