Discussion focuses on Latino/Hispanic
experiences
March
29, 2006
A special
panel discussion, "Facing Prejudice Everyday:
Experiences from Our Community: Latino/Hispanic Perspectives,"
will be held Wednesday, April 5,
from 6:30pm to 8pm in the Harry T. Wilks Conference
Center.
The forum
coincides with the end of the Fitton Center for Creative
Arts' touring exhibit, "Facing Prejudice Everyday."
According
to Assistant Professor of Spanish and Latin American
Studies Shelly Jarrett Bromberg, "this forum
has been requested by members of the Latino community
to share their experiences with surrounding communities
in hopes of countering some of the misconceptions
about Latinos in our area."
The special
forum is hosted by Miami University Hamilton and is
co-sponsored by the Wilks Scholar Program, Latin American
Studies Program, Center for American and World Cultures,
Department of Spanish and Portuguese, and the Miami
Hamilton Office of Multicultural Services.
The forum
is free and open to the public with a reception to
follow.
