Miami University Hamilton’s (MUH) athletic coaches have been recognized by the City of Hamilton in the wake of an exceptional sports year for the Harriers.

Mayor Don Ryan proclaimed July 12 as “Miami University Hamilton Coaches Day” during a campus picnic to honor the program.

MUH produced three conference and state championship teams during the 2006 spring season in the sports of baseball, softball and golf, while the men’s tennis team won the Ohio Regional Campus Conference and the women’s tennis team finished second.

Honored for their efforts were baseball coach Darrell Grissom and assistant Pete Chavarria; tennis coach Lindsay Vaughn; softball coach Bob Tinsley and assistant Robert McGlothin; volleyball coach Traci Anderson and assistant Laura Collins; golf coach Dick Wells, men’s basketball coach Tyrice Walker; women’s basketball coach Chris Settle and assistant Kerri Fiehrer, and cheerleading coach Amy Baker.

Volunteer coaches also recognized were Butch Davis, Adam Grissom, Ryan Maher and Curtus Moak (baseball) and Dale Perry (softball).

Mayor Ryan and Dr. Daniel Hall, MUH Campus Dean, also acknowledged Athletic Director Vince Richardson, Master Senior Administrative Secretary Terri Blair and Dr. Robert Rusbosin, Associate Dean and Director of Student Services.
