The Miami
University Hamilton Student Nursing Association wants
new or gently used toys and books for children who
lost everything when hurricane Katrina hit.
Through their project, “Caring for Katrina’s
Kids,” the nursing students will donate books,
toys, games, and stuffed animals to families displaced
by the hurricane and who are currently housed in shelters
within the Cincinnati metropolitan area.
“Play is very therapeutic for children,”
Missy Hosmer, vice president for the student nursing
association said. “We are hoping our donations
will help.”
The students will collect toys through the month of
September in University Hall, located just north of
the main campus of Miami Hamilton. They also are looking
for art supply items such as paper, crayons, markers,
and children’s scissors.
