SGA helps the victims of the
Hamilton house fire tragedy
December
7, 2005
According
to Miami University Hamilton Student Government member
Henrietta Ofori-Sampong, “It was with such a
heavy heart to learn of the recent house fire on Front
Street in the Neilan Park Apartments in Hamilton.
The fire claimed the lives of four young children
who were students at Harrison Elementary School on
Knightsbridge Drive.”
SGA, at the request of Assistant Professor of English
Kelli Johnson, will be collecting funds from now until
Dec. 14 to provide specific help to the parents and
two young children who survived the tragic fire.
Checks should be made payable to: MIAMI UNIVERSITY
HAMILTON SGA and should be brought to the Office of
Student Services, 130 Rentschler Hall. Cash is also
acceptable.
Susan Schnell, Principal at Harrison Elementary School,
was pleased to hear that the SGA wanted to help the
family and she suggested that small kitchen appliances
would be much appreciated as the family moves into
their new apartment later this week. With the money
collected, the SGA is planning to purchase as many
of the items on the list below:
Microwave
Blender
Toaster
Coffee pot
Electric tea kettle
Crock pot
Rice cooker
Electric can opener
Kitchen radio or television
George Foreman grill
Electric fryer
Frying pan
