Rentschler Library adds digital resources
April 7, 2005
Rentschler Library recently added new digital equipment
to enhance student and faculty presentations.
Two digital cameras are now available for checkout
by students, faculty and staff. Interim Library Director
Chris Galluzzo explains that these Kodak cameras can
take quality photos (up to 4.0 mega pixels) and are
quite user friendly. Students and faculty might consider
using them to add images to presentations, reports,
handouts, flyers, web sites, etc.
Departments might also consider using them to document
campus events, prepare newsletters, or in the creation
of reports. Once images are taken, they can be downloaded
from the camera to your computer or to your network
storage space (the library has one computer that patrons
can use for this last option).
An image/document scanner also has been installed
in the library and is now available for use. This
flatbed scanner will allow users to make quality scans
of images, pages from periodicals or reference works
(many of which cannot be checked out), and slides.
Like other digital images, once scans are created,
the images can be placed in word processing documents,
PowerPoint presentations, sent via email, and added
to web pages.
