December
2, 2005
Miami University Hamilton Senate recently
approved the formation of a new Honors Program for
students at Miami Hamilton.
The program provides many benefits including an honors
course transcript notation and small, highly interactive
classroom experiences. In addition, students will
receive enhanced opportunities for intellectual challenge
and leadership and support for individual growth in
research and writing skills.
According to Professor of English Diana Royer, “Hamilton
Honors provides students with an academic and intellectual
climate that promotes active engagement in learning,
creativity, responsible global
citizenship, and a reflective approach to living life.”
Courses to be offered this spring include, “Readings
in Colligan Lecture Series (history),” “Passing
& Identity in Literature & Film (English),”
“Human Development & Learning in Social
Educational Contexts (educational psychology),”
and “Problems of Moral & Social Values (philosophy).”
Students
with at least 15 credit hours (graded course work)
and a GPA of 3.5 or higher are automatically admitted
upon enrollment. First semester students are invited
to join the program based on high school GPA, test
scores, and additional variables. For more information,

Acadmic Advising.
