Grief counseling available to students

April 12, 2005

In addition to grief counseling offered on Miami’s Oxford campus, counseling for students also is available on Miami’s Hamilton campus to offer support in the wake of Sunday’s off-campus fire which took the lives of three Miami students, Stephen Smith, Julia Turnbull and Kathryn Welling.

Students are encouraged to contact Mary Bausano on the Hamilton Campus. She is located in Room 121 Rentschler Hall and can be reached at 785-3211.

Oxford drop-in grief counseling remains available to all students on an individual and group basis 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, April 11-14, and 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 15, at the Student Counseling Service, 195 Health Services Building.

Grief counseling is also available by appointment or by emergency request by calling the Student Counseling Service at 529-4634 during normal working hours. Grief counseling is also available by phone 24 hours/day through the Community Counseling and Crisis Center's crisis hotline, 523-4146.

Information that may be helpful over the next few days and weeks as people experience grief over the loss of three Miami students in Sunday's fire, is available through the home page of the Student Counseling Service Web site: www.muohio.edu/studentcounseling.
