A memorial service will be held for Dr. Kathryn M. Burton at
2pm Sunday, August 15, in the Harry T. Wilks
Conference Center at Miami University Hamilton.
Dr. Burton, associate professor
of English at Miami Hamilton, died of cancer
on June 20. She was 52. In 1991 Dr. Burton came
to Miami, where she was a specialist in 18th
century British literature. She taught at the
Luxembourg campus from 1999 to 2001.
A native of Tampa, Fla., she
received a bachelor’s, master’s
and doctoral degree from Florida State University.
Dr. Burton is survived by her
husband, Richard, of Hamilton; a daughter, Alissa
Dickerson of Cincinnati; a grandson, Isaac;
and two brothers, Kevin and Michael.
