World renowned scholar to receive Dolibois History
Prize

The third annual John E. Dolibois History Prize will
be awarded to eminent scholar and author Christopher
R. Browning Thursday, November 18, beginning at 7:30
pm in Parrish Auditorium. A gala reception will follow.
The event is free and open to the public; no tickets
are required. Browning will speak on the topic of
"The Holocaust's Perpetrators: Attempted Explanations
of History's Greatest Crime."
According to Dr. Michael Carrafiello, Director of
The Michael J. Colligan History Project, "Christopher
Browning is the world's most widely consulted academic
expert on the Holocaust, having testified before the
United States Congress and the Court of Queen's Bench
in the United Kingdom."
Browning has also authored two of the most important
books on the Holocaust, Ordinary Men and The Origins
of the Final Solution. In addition, he holds an endowed
chair at the University of North Carolina, Chapel
Hill as Frank Porter Graham Professor of History.
The John E. Dolibois History Prize was first presented
to its namesake in 2002. The prize is awarded to outstanding
historians who have made extraordinary contributions
