| Miami
University Hamilton will host a special Homeland
Security Training Conference Wednesday, April
30, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Harry
T. Wilks Conference Center. |
| |
|
| The
conference, designed for fire, police, school,
hospital and local government personnel, will
provide a fundamental understanding of how Weapons
of Mass Destruction could be employed and the
impact on the community. The course content has
been developed by the U.S. Department of Justice
Center of Domestic Preparedness. More than 60
participants are expected at tomorrow's training
session. |
| |
|
| In
the fall, community colleges, technical colleges
and university regional campuses that are members
of the EnterpriseOhio Network formed the Homeland
Security Training Alliance (HSTA) with the University
of Findlay's Center for Terrorism Preparedness.
The primary purpose of the Alliance is to provide
standardized Terrorism Preparedness training programs
across the state. |
| |
|
| The
Southwest Ohio Homeland Security Training Consortium,
which includes five area community colleges and
regional university campuses, is part of the training
alliance. The Southwest Ohio Homeland Security
Training Consortium includes the following institutions: |
| |
|
|
|
Cincinnati
State Technical and Community College |
|
|
Miami
University Hamilton |
|
|
Miami
University Middletown |
|
|
University
of Cincinnati, Clermont College |
|
|
University
of Cincinnati, Raymond Walters College |
| |
|
| The
consortium's goal is to provide the statewide
standardized curriculum in a timely manner, at
a convenient location, with a uniform cost structure.
The HSTA was formed to fill the gaps in statewide
training efforts, not to take the place of existing
and successful training programs already underway.
The five consortium members are dedicated to providing
courses to meet the local needs of first responders
in our communities without duplicating other training
efforts. |
