LGBT History Month

LGBT Display

In recognition of LGBT History Month, Rentschler Library will have a special awareness display throughout the month of October. The visual display features a variety of symbols associated with the LGBTQ Community, while the bookshelf contains historic, cultural, and informative resources that are available for checkout. For a listing of these books & for online resources, please see our Queer Studies bibliography.

Please Note:

Rentschler Library respects the rights of students to hold their own opinions and to express (respectfully) their views. However, we remind students that we serve a diverse student body and that a core mission of the university is to prepare students to live and work in our increasingly diverse world. This means learning to accept a diverse range of human practices and learning to interact with people from a wide variety of perspectives. Negative, hateful comments about gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning members of our community are in direct contradiction to the “University Statement Asserting Respect for Human Diversity” and the “Regional Campus Diversity Mission Statement,” and fuel a climate of intolerance and bigotry on our campuses.

It is our hope that the Rentschler Library display recognizing “LGBT History Month” and promoting the library’s collection of materials that support the curriculum of the WGS 202 Introduction to GLBT Studies course will provide one opportunity, among others, to educate ourselves about our increasingly diverse community.
