Connecting to Library Resources From Off-Campus

Many of the research databases available in the library are accessible to students, faculty, and staff from off-campus. Since many of the sources are available on a subscription basis, the library is required to grant access only to authorized Miami users (students, faculty, and staff). Therefore, off-campus users must identify themselves as authorized users by using one of the following authentication methods:

1. Connect from the Libraries' Site

Visit the web site for the University Libraries and connect to the desired resource (database, online encyclopedia, etc). After clicking a link to connect to a database, enter your MUnet Unique ID and password to gain access.

2. OhioLINK Remote Authentication

To gain access through OhioLINK from your home computer, go to the OhioLINK site at: http://auth.ohiolink.edu and submit "Miami University" as your institution. Next, submit your name and Banner + number. After connecting, you will be taken to a page to access all available OhioLINK databases.

3. Dial-up Access

Miami University offers dial in access points at all campuses. Dial in access points require a valid MUnet Unique ID and password. Once a dial up connection is established, users can connect to the research databases directly from the University Libraries' web site. For further instructions, check the KnowledgeBase page or the Dial-up (PPP) Connection instructions provided for:
