Book Collection

Rentschler Library has over 56,000 titles for you to explore, most of which can be checked out of the library by using your Miami ID card. Borrowing books is free and there is no limit to how many Miami affiliates can check out at one time. Overdue fines do occur when items are not returned on time or renewed. For more information about fines, or to learn about borrowing priviliges for community users, please see our Policies page.

Electronic Book Center: Find library books you can read online! Miami affiliates have access to thousands of books that can be viewed online and to audiobooks that can be downloaded. Please note that you will need to enter your Miami username & password to access these books. Once you're in the Electronic Book Center, you can choose to search all of their books, or limit it by a particular collection.

The resources in this section were made available to the library from the Michael J. Colligan History Project. These materials are available for use by students, faculty, staff, and members of the community.

Newspapers

Rentschler Library regularly receives the latest editions of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Hamilton Journal News, The New York Times, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal. Our most recent copies of these newspapers are located near the front printing station of the library; older copies can be found on Range 5, in the Periodicals section.

Popular Reading Collection

Rentschler Library has a wide variety of both fiction and non-fiction "best sellers" located at the front of the library. All books in this collection can be checked out for a 3-week period of time. Use the search box below to find a specific author or title available on our shelf, or just click "Find Books" to browse the entire selection.

Popular Magazines

We also have a wide assortment of popular magazines in the front of the library that you can browse between classes. Please note that these items cannot be checked out of the library. Whether you want to catch up on your music scene with Rolling Stone, find some sports facts in Sports Illustrated, or get a glimpse of the world in National Geographic, we have some fantastic magazines for you to browse between classes. Print Journals

While most of our journals are available electronically, we also have a selection of journals in print format for you to use within the library. Journals are arranged alphabetically, making it easy for you to browse what is available. Please note that print journals cannot be checked out.

Periodicals Online

As a Miami affiliate, you have access to hundreds of databases for locating full-text journal, magazine, & news articles that support your research. To find a specific database, go to the Databases A-Z page. If you are not sure which database will have the most coverage for your topic, you should try the Research by Subject page to narrow your choices down by class subject.


If you are looking for a specific journal title, you can search the "Journals by Title" tab to see if Miami owns access.

Reference Collection (Library Use Only)

Reference materials are a good starting point for research because they can help you begin to learn more about your topic. Please note that items in the Reference Collection cannot be taken out of the library. You can enter a subject into the box below--like careers, nursing, criminal justice,etc.--or just click "Find Reference" to browse Rentschler Library's Reference Collection.
