Audiovisual Resources
Finding Videos
Researchers can use the library catalog to determine audiovisual holdings in the University Libraries. You can also "Browse" for videos within the "Multimedia" tab, and choose to sort your results by "Relevance", "Title A-Z", "Title Z-A", "Newest" (Received), & "Oldest" (Received).
Booking University Libraries' Videos
Most audiovisual materials from University Libraries can be "booked" for use later in the semester. Booking an item prevents other patrons from checking it out during the time period that you need it, which is really helpful if you have plans to show an item during class.
For more information, please stop by the circulation desk, or contact Hannah Ellinghausen at ellinghl@miamioh.edu.You can also reach Hannah by phone at (513) 785-3179.
Streaming Videos
Due to known issues with off-campus access, Rentschler Library advises using this service only for easy access to materials to show in class. Technology staff on all campuses are working to make these resources available for use off-campus (for example, by students viewing videos from their home computers). Because of copyright restrictions, only videos owned by the University Libraries can be digitized for streaming. Instructor owned DVDs and VHS tapes cannot be digitized. In order to remain copyright compliant, access to streaming videos expires at the end of each semester. Please direct all questions regarding streaming video service to Mark Shores at 785-3203.
Digital Videos
Students and faculty also have access to an online collection of over 1850 full-length educational videos that are licensed for use at Miami University. Videos can be viewed online or temporarily downloaded for playback from the OhioLINK Digital Resource Commons.
