From a letter to Ray Brockman, September 3, 2003 concerning the TvHAMILTON! production, "The U.S.S. Hornet."

"I first met Dick Fitton in 1939 when our family moved to Eastover (one mile beyond the Fairground on the Middletown Pike) and the two Fitton families lived on Headgate Road—very close... Dick's "magic carpet"—I came home from England in January 1946 on the U.S.S. Lake Champlain. 5,000 G.Is in the hangar deck. Canvas Bunks, 5 high, 20" apart. NO COMPLAINTS.

"The Greatest Generation!"
