Mosler Hall
Physical Facilities are in the process of working on the air compressor in Mosler Hall. This will cause the temperature to fluctuate from hot to cold, intermittently, all day long. The Physical Facilities Department apologizes for any inconvenience.
Mosler Hall
The 750 lb. fan motor is installed and operational in the South end of Mosler. This means that the air conditioning is back on. So, there may be some rooms that may become extremely cold due to people adjusting the thermostats while the fan was shut down. Try readjusting them to a comfortable room temperature.
Once again we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Mosler Roof
Repairs on Mosler Roof will resume today and continue through Monday, September 11. The workers will be hammer-drilling, which will cause vibration noises through the building at times.
Mosler Roof
The new surface has been completed. We are waiting for the flashing/metal work to be manufactured and then it will all be installed. During the installation of the flashing/metal work the noise/vibration will sound like a "humming" sound and will take one week to complete. Right now they have scheduled this work to be completed by September 1st and the roof will be done.
Phelps Fire Alarm
The fire Marshall is scheduled to test this system on Monday, August 28th. If everything tests out okay, the system will be placed into service.
Parking Lot Repairs
The north student parking lot repairs have been completed and all spots are available.
The University Hall parking lot was coated with a new rubberized product so right now it probably looks a little bit different than most re-paved parking lots that you have ever seen. Due to its flexibility it is supposed to last longer than your standard pavement repair. The imperfections and tire marks will smooth out over time, plus we will be adding additional parking spots via additional striping.
Library Computer Classroom
Progress has been slow in this computer classroom renovation. The first electrical inspection was passed which allows the contractor to continue his work.
Mosler Roof
So far this week the contractor has made
slow progress in removing the old roof. By the
end of
today (7/19/06),
they are hoping to start installing the new roofing
material in the section where the old roof has
been removed.
All of the noise that you have been hearing
will continue well into next week but it will be
worth it when completed. We appreciate your
patience as this project is being completed.

| The
photos above indicate how much material the contractor
is removing from the roof. It includes the old rubber
roof, a layer of insulation, then a layer of tar/gravel,
and then a coating of lightweight cement. |
Mosler Roof
The contractor has stocked the roof with the new materials and has tentatively scheduled Monday, July 10th, as the start date. They anticipate this to be a three-week project and there will be two types of noises you will hear. First, you will hear constant movement up on the roof, similar to hearing someone up on the second floor of a house move around. The second noise will be the vibration from the contractor drilling into the concrete roof deck—this vibration noise could reach down to the first and second floor.
The contractor plans on starting each day at about 6 AM and the Mosler dock area will be congested until approximately 12 noon. All of the work on this project is "weather permitting."
University Hall Parking Lot Paving
The first step of the project was completed this past week. Weather permitting, the contractor will begin resurfacing the entire lot sometime between July 5th and July 9th. This will require us to close the entire parking lot for 3 to 5 days so it can be resurfaced and then re-striped. Parking will be available along the drive leading back to University Hall.
The New Library Computer Lab/Classroom
The carpenter has started light demolition in the library for the new computer lab/classroom. Permits are expected next week and the contractor hopes to get started the week of July 9th.
The Parrish/Phelps Fire Alarm Replacement
The rough-in portion of this project is about 40 percent complete. Expected completion date is the first week of August, 2006.
