      Campus Kids Overview

Our Philosophy
The educational philosophy of the Campus Kids program is based on the constructivist approach. We believe that each child is unique and develops at an individual rate. We respect each child and family and the diversity each family brings into the program.

We believe that children learn by touching, manipulating, exploring, and playing. Children also learn important social and emotional skills by interacting with the environment and the people in the environment. We feel that it is important to guide children in learning skills to solve problems through conflict resolution. We provide developmentally appropriate activities which allow children to practice and master skills in the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional domains in a safe and positive environment.

Purpose of the Campus Kids Program
Miami Hamilton’s “Campus Kids” child care center has been established for a
variety of purposes:

1. To provide a safe and wholesome setting for the children of Miami University Hamilton students, faculty and staff who need child care for extended or short periods of time.
2. To provide quality child care and educational experiences for the young children enrolled.
3. To provide learning experiences for students that may use the Center as a resource or observation site.
4.

To aid in the prevention of college-wide student, faculty or staff absences due to child care needs.
