Steps for
Relocating
To be eligible to take classes,
part-time or full-time, on the Oxford Campus
during the Academic year you must have earned 20 credit hours on the Hamilton
or Middletown campuses and have a 2.0 or higher
cumulative GPA. Credit hours earned for relocating do not include hours you earned
from AP credit, portfolio, transfer work, Post-Secondary
or CLEP exams.
If you need or want to take any classes in
Oxford during the fall or spring semesters you
will need to fill out a relocation packet IN
ADVANCE. If you wait until registration time
it will take awhile to process your paperwork
and you may not get the class you are trying
to sign up for in Oxford.
-
Pick up a relocation
packet in the Advising Office, 102 Rentschler
Hall. This packet is available beginning
in late September for spring registration, and
in late February for fall relocation.
-
Fill out each page
of the packet and return it to the office listed
at the top of the page. For instance many papers
will go to the Records Office, but you will need
to send your Medical Form to Oxford.
-
You only have to fill
out a Medical Form once during your time at Miami
University, but if you continually take some classes
in Oxford and some in Hamilton then you will need
to fill out the rest of the relocation form each
semester for it to be valid.
- Allow a couple of weeks
for Oxford to process your medical form.
-
You will pay Oxford fees for classes.
-
You will need to schedule a meeting
with an Oxford adviser to schedule your classes
and have your relocation hold removed from your
record. You will not be able to schedule without
meeting with an Oxford adviser.
Relocation Day is a day where
you can sign up in advance for a time slot to
meet with an Oxford adviser on the regional
campuses. You can visit the advising office
for Hamilton in 102 Rentschler or call 785-3129
to schedule this appointment.
For Middletown Relocation packets or information
visit 114 Johnston Hall, the Office of Records
and Registration. Relocation Day is held once
each semester on the Hamilton Campus and once
a semester on the Middletown Campus. During
the fall this is typically during the first
week in November, during the spring it would
be in late March. Appointments fill early so call ahead to schedule your time. If you
do not meet with the advisers while they are
on the regional campuses you will need to go
to Oxford for your advising appointment.
During Relocation Day there will
also be an information session in which representatives
from Oxford will be available to answer many
questions about the Oxford campus.
-
You can meet with a Hamilton adviser,
you will not have a relocation hold on your record.
-
In your relocation packet there is
a section about which one or two specific courses
you are requesting permission to register for
in Oxford. For example, if you list “FSW
400” then try to sign-up for “HST
399” the computer system will not allow
you to register.
-
You still need to complete the entire
packet, including the Health Form.
-
You will pay the campus fees for whichever
campus you are taking more credit hours. For instance,
if you take 7 hours in Hamilton and 6 hours in
Oxford you will be charged Hamilton fees.
