Choosing a Major

Male student holding brochures and phone. Many students enter college with the false assumption that they must have already chosen a major.

Most students will change majors two or three times during their academic career. Not having a declared major will allow you to explore a variety of interests as you progress through the Miami Plan Foundation Courses. You can use these courses to fulfill requirements and focus on an area that you wish to explore further.

By the end of your sophomore year, you should have a general direction in mind. Some majors do require an earlier decision to graduate on time. If you still do not have a major in mind, Miami offers career counseling courses and other resources that can help you decide.

Learn about bachelor degrees, associate degrees and certificates offered on Miami's regional campuses.
