Unclassified Students

If you have already completed a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university, you are eligible for admission as an Unclassified Student.

Admission requirements

You will need to complete the Unclassified Student Application for Admission and submit an official transcript or diploma indicating the degree earned. Unclassified students taking classes at Miami University will earn credit for classes taken. This information is for those students NOT seeking another degree. If you are degree seeking, please fill out the transfer student application or call the Admission Office for clarification and questions.

NOTE: Unclassified students are NOT eligible to receive financial aid.

How can you apply?

If you will enroll as an unclassified student, do the following:

Note: Applicants may apply to only one Miami University campus. In addition, applications are term specific. If you wish to change campuses after initial application or change your entry term, call the Office of Admission at 513.785.3111.

Process for non-online applications

Step 1: Download, complete and sign the Miami Hamilton Application for Admission

Step 2: Mail the Application for Admission with a check or money order for the application fee, payable to Miami University, to:

Step 3: Have your ACT or SAT scores sent directly from the testing agency. (NOTE: If you have been out of high school two years, or are a non-degree student, you do not have to submit these scores.)

Step 4: Have your High School Record(s) and College Transcript(s) from all prior college work sent directly from the institution(s) to Miami Hamilton.

GED transcripts must be sent from the state Department of Education.

Home-schooled or alternatively-educated students must present official GED transcripts or other credentials which demonstrate levels of academic achievement, ability, and performance equivalent to that of a state charted diploma.
