Roberto Santiago a native of Spanish Harlem and a graduate of Oberlin College, Santiago has amassed an impressive body of work as a reporter and editor for some of the most respected news organizations in the country, including Emerge magazine, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the New York Daily News and the Miami Herald, where he is now a senior staff writer. In 1995, he published Boricuas: Influential Puerto Rican Writings, a widely-respected anthology. As a journalist, Santiago is passionate about issues of poverty and social justice. He acknowledges that his interest in the poverty beat stems from his own experiences growing up poor in Spanish Harlem. |

Dr. Reiland Rabaka An Assistant Professor in the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of Colorado-Boulder, where he is also a faculty fellow at the Center for Studies of Ethnicity and Race in America (CSERA). He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in African American Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for African American Studies at the University of Houston he completed a manuscript, W.E.B. Du Bois and the Problems of the Twenty-First Century, which intensely explores Du Bois’s contributions to critical social theory. |

S.G Carthell is the current Director African American Student Services & Ethnic Programs, Director for the Marvin D. Mills Multicultural Center, and Adjunct Faculty in the Communications Department at Murray State University . Where he is responsible for the development and implementation of programs and activities that are designed to enhance the academic success and retention for multicultural students. He received his Bachelors degree from Ball State University with a focus in Criminal Justice & Criminology, and his Masters degree from Miami University with a focus in Mass Communication. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Higher Education Administration. |
